Head 'em up, move 'em out

Trumpendectomy just sort of rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?  Well done, Sir.  I've come up with a few terms myself, with the thought that the Trump prefix will be a future mainstay of any description of a clusterfuck, much like the "-gate" suffix appeared after Watergate.  Trumpalysis, Trumpanoia, Trumpocracy, and Trumpenvolk are just a few examples and there are sure to be more.

Well, that's enough comment of the circus for today.

Remember that statement of mine about the amount of water that hit Houston, and it was equivalent to a multi-month output of Horseshoe Falls?  CBS News begs to differ, and their figures seem more realistic to me.  They state that the amount was equal to a fifteen day output of Niagara Falls, which includes both Horseshoe Falls and the American Falls.  The revised figure seems more likely, but I forgot the source of my original statement.  Sorry for the misinformation.

I didn't realize the import of Gulf coast Texas in regards to the national economy, especially regarding international shipping and the petrochemical industry.  The production of feedstock chemicals for plastics is going to suffer, which means higher prices and/or less availability in the short term.  I don't know about gasoline production; some refineries are already going back online, if the fake news media is to be believed.

The lack of a building code for Houston was screwy, but the state of Texas has done it one better.  70% of Texas counties, by state law, are forbidden from having a fire code.  Think about that for a minute.  Isn't this taking deregulation a bit too far?  Fire codes also cover the storage and handling of hazardous materials which helps explain why some of those Houston-area chemical plants are exploding.  All kinds of toxic crap are leaking into the air and water down there, and will continue for some time.  The ripple effect may be extreme; I won't be eating any Gulf shrimp anytime soon.

A while back I mentioned cowboy poetry to Mr. Beagles and I recently stumbled upon a YouTube channel about cowboy cooking which he may find interesting.  I don't think it's Uncle Ken's cup of tea, too much old-timey and folksy wisdom and who the hell cooks out of a chuck wagon in the wintertime, anyhow?

But the equipment and techniques are fascinating, and I'm glad that this kind of historical process is being kept alive and practiced.  The feller's name is Kent Rollins, and he goes out on the range cooking meals for working cowboys, using his 1870's Studebaker chuck wagon.  I'll have to try his method of making "cowboy coffee."  It's definitely not the kind of beverage you'll find at Starbucks, and other of his recipes will give your cast iron skillets a real workout.

His video channel is here: https://www.youtube.com/user/krollins57/videos

The videos are mildly entertaining in themselves, and they've given me a greater appreciation of Cookie's role on Rawhide.  No ice cream recipes though, dagnabbit!
