There's something happening here

Did either of you guys happen to see the photo of the White House staff?  Not a bunch of happy campers.  And those pix of the two guys shaking hands...didn't look too forced, did it?  There haven't been many times I've seen Obama struggling for a good choice of words but he seemed tongue-tied yesterday.  Mr. Fart himself seemed a bit morose for what should have been a satisfying moment; he reminded me of a deflated balloon.  I bet he got a big reality check during his meeting with Barack and maybe he's realizing that there is much more to the presidency than a bulletproof limo, and the shit's gonna get real, very quickly, and he won't have much to smile about.  We shall see.

But hell, things are going to be okay, eventually.  The system has been exposed and we can now all see the men behind the curtains as they drop their masks and their true colors are revealed.  You can be sure that there will be a lot of congressmen sweating the midterm elections, regardless of party.  I don't think the electorate will tolerate any further lack of accountability from their elected officials, all the way down to the local dogcatcher.  Will the strings of the puppet masters be finally cut?

The electronic edition of The Economist came through yesterday, and a quick glance reveals a lot of apprehension and confusion. I don't know if any European alliances will shift but I think there will be some agonizing reappraisal of priorities.  Whether the European Union will hold is anybody's guess; Brexit didn't help.  I haven't read anything yet about reactions from the Far East, they surely must have something to say.

I can't get the Buffalo Springfield song, For What It's Worth, out of my head.  "Battle lines being drawn..."

At least we have the nekkid pictures of the new First Lady to ogle, hubba, hubba.
