My Gardening Days are Over

It's been some years now since we've planted a garden. We just don't have the time or energy for it anymore. To be successful, a garden in Beaglesonia needs to be tightly fenced, and we never did get around to doing that. Some years we were lucky and the deer left us alone but, other years, they would eat the stuff as fast as it sprouted. Then there were years where they would let it grow to maturity, and eat the finished product a day or two before we planned to harvest it. I don't know of any food plants that don't appeal to deer but, in the flower department, they don't like daffodils.

Funny that Old Dog is thinking spring thoughts right now. We got a foot of new snow the other day, which is more than we got in the whole month of March. I'm about out of burnable firewood, with a couple more weeks to go, but we can get by with the gas furnace for that amount of time. I should have a big pile of logs ready to block and split by now, but I'm way behind on that as well. This flu bug has caused me to miss a couple weeks of good logging conditions. The trail is frozen down to China and there wasn't much snow on the ground, until now. The temperature got down to 5 above this morning, beating the record that was set in 2016 by two degrees. It's not supposed to get that cold tonight, but they are predicting a couple more inches of snow tomorrow.
