I have heard that some states and private concerns have pledged to replace the money that Trump has pulled out of the Paris deal. Fine, let them answer to their taxpayers and stockholders for that. As with a lot of other things, they're going to do what they want to anyway, but not with my vote.
I never voted for Trump but, when I heard about the Paris deal, I was beginning to wish that I had. Then I heard about Trump's dance with the Saudis, and I was back to being glad that I never did. I'm still not unconvinced that the reason they put Trump out there in the first place was to help Hillary win the election, but then it backfired on them. Now they might be keeping him in there just to give the Republicans a bad name so they will lose the next election. What else can they do? If they shoot him they will just make a martyr out of him, and more of his agenda will be passed in his memory than would have been passed if he had lived. They might be pinning their hopes on impeachment, but they don't have the votes for that, at last not yet. Even if Trump was impeached and convicted, it would put Pence in the White House, not Hillary. I don't know much about Pence, but he couldn't be as bad as Trump. Could he?
I think all those global warming treaties are just scams to transfer wealth from the rich nations to the poor nations. That wouldn't be so bad if the poor nations were going to actually use the money to remedy global warming, but I would be surprised if they did. Of course I have been surprised before, so anything can happen. All things are possible, but all things are not bloody likely. Anyway, I'm against anything the UN does because I'm against the UN on general principles. I don't believe that a global government would be any better than the current national governments. The same people would be running it, only now they would have more power.
I hadn't heard that Iran actually stopped its nuclear program but, even if they did, they could start it back up again at their convenience. I don't know how effective the sanctions were. Russia also has had sanctions imposed upon them, and it doesn't seem to be slowing them down any. If they really wanted to hurt all those bad countries, it would be better if they just stopped buying their oil and selling them food. They can't eat oil.
I heard that Iran experienced a terrorist incident today, but I didn't know that ISIS was behind it. I understand that shots were fired from one of their government buildings, not at it. I suppose that doesn't prove anything, though. Anybody can enter a government building during normal business hours, but not in Cheboygan. They put metal detectors on the entrances to our county building some time ago and, last I heard, they still weren't working right. They were supposed to work without human supervision, but they sound so many false alarms that somebody has to stand right there to check out the people coming through most of the time.
