How is Beagles so sure that They are a force of evil? Maybe They are a force for good. Now I wonder who is in this group of We. I thought it was Beagles alone fighting the good (possibly evil if They are good) fight against Them.
The spread out story reminds me of a Paul Newman movie I once saw, Hombre I think it was. They of course are out to get him. He has gotten away and is climbing up a mountain. The sheriff is getting up a posse and the locals seem willing enough until the sheriff points out that Hombre only has four bullets left in his gun and even if he uses each bullet skillfully and kills four of them, the fifth guy will be able to bring him in dead or alive, at which point they all remember that they have to walk the dog or something.
I did not know that the word guy came from Guy Fawkes, Ir seems like one of those words that has been around forever. Interesting that it became the second person plural by way of being a mannequin, Nobody calls a mannequin a guy anymore. Another thing I've noticed is that when a European or maybe an Arab, whose English is not so hot, speaks of people he calls them guys. Like I saw these guys, or I was talking to that guy. It always seemed a little odd to me because guy is kind of slangy and you don't expect somebody who doesn't know English that well to be familiar with slang.
You would think you people would be the same as you guys, but it's not is it? Beagles said it was kind of condescending, and I guess so, also maybe in some contexts, sort of racist. Back when I was subbing I once addressed a group of kids as you people, meaning just you guys. But most of the kids were black and this one girl picked up on it and was like 'Oh you called us 'you people.' You know they're like that, not blacks, just kids in general. They know certain words or expressions are taboo and if they can catch teach in it they can raise a ruckus. I pretended that I didn't know what she was talking about, and being a sixth grader, she was probably not too sure either and the incident passed without a ruckus.
Back to Guy Fawkes, that's the mask like Anonymous (the hacker group) and some other vaguely leftist groups wear when demonstrating or talking to the press. There is this strange spectrum of mostly young leftists who are against everything and subscribe to some conspiracy theories and have their own politically correct language, and are so far around the bend they almost meet the rightists on the other end of the circle, like some claim the establishment left and right meet on the other end of the circle as libertarians, but I am not so sure about that.
But I wonder why those guys like Guy Fawkes so much. Is it because he had some common cause or just because he wanted to blow things up. No, it appears that he just wanted to kill the king to put a new Catholic king on the throne. So I guess it's just blowing everything up that the new new left admires about him. Remember the new left? Now I guess it is the old new left.
