A lead pipe cinch

There are some people who just have to have the last word, likely they sense that their arguments have been weak and not to the point, and they think that by having the last word this somehow bolsters their weak case.  I'm not naming any names, but in my generous manner, I am allowing this person, who I shall not name, to go at it in the next post and I promise not to reply,


Nobody really knows what effects the stock market, it is a dark and raging beast and its eyes are blank.  What folks who call themselves Wall Street analysts do is just pick the latest headline and call that the reason for the rise or fall much like pinning the tail on the donkey.  But it seems to make sense that the flu bear has been followed by the Biden bull in accordance with the dictum that the stock market hates uncertainty. 

The pundits aren't saying it, and I don't know why, except maybe that the press hates certainty, because who is going to want to buy another chapter when they know the ending, but Biden looks like a lead pipe cinch.  Last I saw Biden already has more delegates than the others combined, and I don't see any more Californias, which even then Bernie barely eked out a majority of delegates, on the map, and baring the unforeseen, which is always a factor, I see a clear path. 

A lead pipe cinch, the words just roll off the tongue do they not?  You can just see the thugs in some dark and smoky bar, cigs hanging out of the corner of their mouths, "Yeah Boss, it's a lead pipe cinch," as one of them thuds that very kind of pipe into his callused palm to denote the kind of blow which is about to meet the fragile brain case of the guy who is standing in the way of quick and dirty money. 

And now to the google machine.  Well cinch is pretty clear coming from that thing you do with saddles to keep them on, but, and the evidence is scant, the lead pipe is thought to come from plumbing where you always want a tight seal.  Back in the day, which they later learned was a bad idea, all plumbing was done with lead, hence the lead pipe.  But lead has a more poetic meaning than merely a substance whose atoms contain exactly 82 protons, it is dark, heavy, dead,  Add to that the pipe which is not unlike those clubs that our ancestors used to clobber their foes in the sunrise while that featureless black refrigerator from that movie stood mutely, and cinch is kind of blend of mince and crunch, which is what is to become of the foe's brain.

Well, not really, Joe the plumber will merely take the office from him, and the stock market will rise on the certainty of happy days of democrats again.  Yeah, I can see it.  It's a lead pipe cinch.
