dire times in Beaglesonia

Language is a funny thing.  It fueled the rise of our so called civilization, but it evolved on it's own so it has all those quirks.  English is generally thought of as a mix between Germanic and Romance (French) languages and there are all those borrowings.  I think another thing is that the English were more literate.  In other languages it was just the scholars who used written language whereas in English you had ye olde Joe Sixpacke chiming in with his own variations.  That's kind of my own theory.  I don't hear many other people saying it, but it kind of makes common sense.  But, as you know, common sense isn't always what it is cracked up to be.

Why elks and moose and not like bears and eagles and pumas?  Normally we like the top predators, the popular athletic teams are often named after them.  There are bisons, but that's probably because they are from Buffalo.  And what of the elks and the moose.  Do you call a couple people from the latter lodge two moose?  And did the one lodge come out of a splinter group of the other?  That is a job for wiki I guess, but not this morning.

So a patched together Old Betsy, a vehicle in disrepair, whose part for all we know will never show up in the shot, a hypothetical wife who will not buy beer for her hubby, and a hunting season that so far is Deer 2, Beagles 0.  Things seem a little dire in Beaglesonia.
