Bear down

There's a bit of lull in the discussions as Uncle Ken gallivants across the Mighty Mississip' and I'm sure he'll have a tale or two to tell when he returns.  I don't mind any lull; some discussions have run their course and not much more can be added.

-----

It's been fifteen years since the tragedy of 9/11 but there's nothing new to say, so I won't, except to wonder if Obama will veto the bill that allows lawsuits against the Saudis.  I suppose he will and maybe Congress will try to override the veto.  Stranger things have happened.

-----

Today is also the start of the NFL season which is a welcome diversion in some quarters, mine included.  Damn Bears have got to learn to protect the quarterback or it's gonna be another long, sad, season.

Are there a lot of football fans in your neck of the woods, Mr. Beagles, or don't they care one way or the other?  It's a long way, both culturally and distance-wise, to Detroit and I can't see the locals being that enthusiastic about them.  The Michigan college teams probably get a lot more support, and to hell with the millionaire prima donna athletes...

One thing I've noticed in these postings is that not a lot of humor comes through the writing of Mr. Beagles, a serious man not given to any juvenile nonsense.  I wonder what brings a smile to your face or an outburst of laughter...is there no fun in the funny papers?  Anything you find particularly amusing?

I've begun to take a perverse pleasure in anything that ridicules the Great Fat Cheeto.  A fine example is the work of Peter Serafinowicz, an English voice actor, who overdubs the speeches of CarrotTop with a voice sounding suspiciously like Liberace's.  Same words, different voice, with flawless execution.  Many videos are on YouTube, and their absurdity makes me smile, a lot.  Hopefully, ridicule can take some steam out of the juggernaut.of his campaign;  facts don't seem to be working.
