I looked around for maybe ten minutes (long for internet search time) until I found that wiki site. What I wanted to know was how many people died of covid yesterday, the day before, the day before that, every day since say March 13. I wasn't interested in cases because that was too dependent on how many tests were given, and hospitalizations, well a lot of other factors going on there too. But deaths, well you know you are either dead or alive. It's a little fuzzy because some may die of covid and not get counted, but I don't think there is much of that going on. It's a lagging indicator because people are dying from something they caught as long as a month ago, but that's okay because it means things are not quite as bad as the numbers stay.
I don't get the cumulative thing either, I notice that I see that on a lot of graphs and I really don't know why. The percentages are useless also because they depend on the cumulative, but I use them for a lightning indicator before I do the arithmetic which is simply to subtract the day before yesterday's cum deaths from yesterday's cum deaths, and I get the number I want. Which by the way looks pretty good for the month of May, 102, 102, 59, 46, but of course we could talky 150 tomorrow. I couldn't find daily deaths on Old Dog's graph and it was slow, whereas wiki, as always, loads justlikethat.
I see my designated hitter metaphor went over like a lead balloon, as often happens here at The Institute. Too much inside baseball? Didn't care for my Law and Order intro thing? Just not interested in that tribes thing? Who knows? Well I write for myself mostly, just to get my thoughts together and I just like writing, so there it is. It is its own reward, so I'll just leave it at that.
Not agreeing with the reps, but them agreeing with you sounds like a distinction without a difference to me but if it makes you happy go with it. Every state seems to be fighting their own lockdown fight. We had our motley crew (the kind of folks that folks at a Trump rally look at and say what a bunch of weirdos) at the Daley plaza mere blocks from me, and there has been grumblings downstate where they have always distrusted Chicago. They wish they were Indiana, without Indianapolis of course. I can't keep up with Michigan.
I got my 1200 maybe a week ago. Before I got it I kept thinking how I would distribute it to help my fellow man, but now that it is in the bank and not in the air I find myself disturbingly not so eager to share it.
ps took another look at Old Dog's graph, and I was able to find daily deaths, but even then there was not a number but just the height of a blue bar.
