Australia has lots of marsupial species, but I think the only one we have in North America is the possum. (Does anybody spell it "opossum" anymore?) In a manner of speaking, marsupial babies are born prematurely. If they don't find their way into that pouch, they don't live very long. Or does the mother stuff them into her pouch herself? I forget. I think the prevailing theory is that all those different methods of gestation represent evolutionary experiments. Funny thing about evolution is that it seems to promote diversity when, logically, it should be the other way around. You'd think that by now Mother Nature would have determined what works best and weeded out the rest.
I'm not sure what the long term effects of the digital age will be. The internet has the potential of making people smarter, but there is also lots of mindless drivel out there in cyberspace. Come to think of it, it's not so different from real life in that respect. Okay, what's different is the ease and speed with which all that information can be accessed. Whether we soar with the eagles, play with the turkeys, or wallow with the hogs, we can do it easier now than ever before.
