the first shot

Got my first dose of vaccine yesterday.  I had made an appointment for 10:40, but being a little unsure of the bus to Hyde Park and wanting to make sure that I wasn't late I arrived there an hour early.  It was the coldest day of the year and I was worried that there might be a crowd and maybe there would have us all standing out on the sidewalk six feet from each other.

But there was no crowd.  I walked right in and told them my name and that I was an hour early and they were all no prob and they sat me down and had me take off my sweatshirt and roll up my t shirt and zip that was it.  Made an appointment for my second shot and sat down in a chair for twenty minutes in case I had some strange reaction, which I didn't. and I half an hour after I walked in I was walking down to Cottage Grove to catch the bus back.

I will be taking off the bandage in a little bit when I take my shower.  It's tender to the touch, but if I don't touch it I don't notice it at all.

It's not effective now, but it will slowly achieve about 50 percent by the time I get the second shot, and maybe a week after that one I will have 95 percent immunity.  I'm not sure about how accurate those numbers are, and I am sure they vary with individuals and circumstances but they will be going in the right direction, and I am feeling better already

The New Yorker is pretty liberal and I agree with Beagles that the article has a lefty slant.  But you can ignore the opinions.  There are a lot of facts in it:  people, places, numbers, which is what I mean by Objective Reality, unlike all those claims of the stolen election which rarely had any of those things and was more like this guy sez, and even when they had places and numbers they turned out to be lies.
