I found Uncle Ken's tutorial on rumps to be helpful. The more I think about it, I remember reading about a "rump parliament" in England back in the 16th or 17th Century. I have always wondered why they called it that, and now I know. The king, I believe it was Charles I, was pissed at Parliament so he dissolved it. This rump parliament continued to meet in defiance of the king's order, and they eventually hung him for treason.
The name Liz Cheney sounded vaguely familiar, but I didn't know anything about her, so I looked her up. She is my new political hero, and I haven't had one of those since Ronald Reagan. If she ever runs for president, she's got my vote. Thanks to Uncle Ken for putting me on her trail. And Wyoming, what a cool state is that! Less than 6 people per square mile, and most of them are Republicans. Too bad it has such a harsh climate, but maybe that's what it takes to keep the riff-raff out.
Our COVID vaccination program is way different. They recently expanded the pool of people who are eligible to get the shot ahead of the general public, but they don't seem to have the ability to handle that many. You have to go online to get in line just to make an appointment. The website has been crashing from overuse, and they're not even answering their telephones anymore. If you do manage to get through to them, they don't give you an appointment, they put your name on a list and promise to contact you when it's your turn to make an appointment. That's okay, I'm in no hurry to get vaccinated anyway. Since none of their other measures have made a dent in the pandemic, it wouldn't surprise me if the vaccine didn't work either.
As I previously reported, our local Walmart has been experiencing the Empty Shelf Syndrome since at least a year before the COVID hit the fan, so it is indeed a local problem. It's not as bad now as it was last spring, but it's still not good.
To my knowledge, most of my fellow Michiganders are not plotting to kill our governor. There's just that one small group of goofballs, and some of them aren't even Michiganders.
