Muttering to myself

Goodness, a muzzle loader too?  Mr. Beagles is certainly giving the game a sporting chance.  I understand that muzzle loaders usually start with larger calibers, about .50 and above, is that correct?  The next I'll probably hear is that he casts his own lead bullets, or balls, or whatever those things use.  Well done, in any case.

I don't follow the hunting culture but bow hunting is becoming more popular and bow hunters have their own specially designated hunting seasons.  But can you hunt deer with an atlatl or spear?  That would be something, going out hunting with nothing more than a keen eye, steady hand, and a sharp stick; not the easiest way to stay well fed.

With all the hoopla about decades-old sexual indiscretions, abuse if you will, it strikes me as odd how fleeting our (meaning the general public's)  priorities are.  It wasn't that long ago that the shooting spree in Las Vegas was the number one problem facing us, a lot of chatter about gun control, automatic weapons, bump stocks, and conspiracies in general.  But today?  Nothing.  Same thing with the recent hurricanes, Harvey and Maria.  I don't recall reading anything recently about the ongoing relief efforts, except that about a million folks in Puerto Rico are still without power or safe drinking water.  With attention spans being so short it's no wonder that there is not much of a follow through, or if there is, it must not be newsworthy.  Do the rules of journalism preclude the reporting of good news?  I'm not trusting much these days.

Now we have the Flynn plea deal, which the pundits are slavering over like hyenas over a dead carcass.  I think they doth speculate too much, anticipating the fall of White House staff like so many dominos.  Manafort already down by indictment, next to fall is son-in-law Jared, maybe along with Donnie Jr., and then Sessions, Pence, and finally the big Cheeto himself.  Maybe I read this all wrong but that looks like the sequence of downfall.  How does President Ryan sound to you?  He'll be the next in line.

We are living in truly interesting times.
