I know how to make links, Uncle Ken, I've been doing it for years. There must have been something wrong with this one, that's all. I clicked on your link about WRT the other day, and it sounds about right. The only thing is that I never made the connection until now between that and the big concern about overpopulation back in the day. I've been blaming the migrants for their irresponsible reproduction, but now I think that maybe they didn't know any better. Maybe somebody was telling them to be fruitful and multiply at the same time they were telling us to tie a knot in it. By the way, I heard the term "Reconquista" years ago on a different site. This lady, who claimed to be a Mexican immigrant, was bragging about it. Of course it may have been bogus, but I haven't heard of it before or since.
I can see why you might think that the US is not overcrowded. Coming from your neighborhood and taking a ride in the country, it must look like there's lots of room. It's not just about square feet of living space, though. Most of the seemingly barren land in Illinois is being used to grow food. If you go out West, the land might look even more barren, but the reason for that is that it's not suitable for Midwestern types of agriculture. I once read somewhere that an acre of good pasture in Wisconsin can support a cow and her calf while, in the semi-arid West, it might take 40 acres or more to do the same thing. Of course the US is not nearly as crowded as some places on Earth, and I'd like to keep it that way.
I've been thinking about those allegations that our guys routinely targeted civilians in Afghanistan. I still can see no tactical advantage to doing that. I remember reading that, in Vietnam, the bad guys commonly situated themselves among the civilian population so that, when our guys shot at them, there was bound to be some collateral damage, which made our guys look bad. I don't know for a fact that's what happened in Afghanistan, but it's one possible explanation. Another possibility is that our guys were getting faulty intelligence from their warlord allies who might have had their own axes to grind.
