I guess I never paid that much attention to the different styles of beer glasses. I don't remember the pilsner glass, although my parents had some glasses that tapered all the way down. I think they called them champagne glasses but they drank beer out of them. When I first came to Cheboygan, there were two sizes of draft beer glasses. The smaller one, which I think held eight ounces, was called a shell for some unknown reason. The larger one must have held 12 ounces because it was bigger than the shell, but not twice as big. The shell cost 40 cents and the large draft cost 50 cents, unless they had a band playing, in which case the price went up 10 cents on both drafts. The shell drinkers thought me extravagant because I always ordered a large draft, even though the large draft was a better deal per ounce. The best deal of all was the pitcher, which I think was a half gallon and cost a buck or a buck and a half. If you were going to be there awhile, or if you had at least one accomplice, a pitcher made more sense, especially if you were sitting at a table instead of at the bar. I haven't been to a bar in years, but I assume they still have the same glasses and pitchers, although not at the same price.
I meant no disrespect when I told you about one of the alternate theories about the resurrection of Jesus. Historians, and even some religious people have been speculating about that for 2000 years. It's like the assassination of JFK, we will probably never know what really happened because there are so many versions of the story floating around.
Many Christians today believe that, when you die, your body stays in the ground while your soul floats up to Heaven, but that belief is not well supported by Biblical scripture or the doctrines of most Christian churches. You might remember that, when we recited the Apostles' Creed at Elsdon, we said the we believed in "the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting". I have asked fundamentalists how it would be possible for people whose bodies had decomposed or were cremated to be resurrected in the body. They usually said something like God will restore our bodies to the state they were when we were young and healthy, but I don't think that's in the Bible either. On the other hand, you have your non believers who say that it's impossible for a dead body to be restored to life, in spite of the fact that doctors routinely bring people back from the dead these days. For this to work, they usually have to take action within a few minutes, although I have heard of cold water drowning victims being revived after as much as 20 minutes. As for me, I try to keep an open mind about things like that.
