I looked up Bridey Murphy on Wiki tonight, and it seems that the story was debunked a long time ago. I remember when there was a lot of talk about it, but I didn't know what ultimately became of the story. An interesting tangent I went off on is the word "cryptomnesia", which is when you remember something but don't remember from whence it came, and you honestly believe that it happened to you or that it was your own original idea.
Yes, Old Dog, heavy whipping cream is the same thing as heavy cream. I think they call it that to distinguish it from other dairy products like half and half. My recipe calls for one cup of whole milk to two cups of heavy cream. I thought that my first batch had too much butter fat in it, so I tried all milk and all half and half, which the recipe book said you could do. Both alternatives did not turn out well, there seemed to be a lot of ice crystals in the mix, it was like eating a popsicle instead of ice cream, so I went back to the original recipe. I did reduce the amount of sugar, which they also said you could do, and that turned out fine. I have never included an egg in my product. I don't think I have ever stored ice cream for a long period of time. I have seen store bought ice cream turn a little funny, but that was due to it partially thawing and then refreezing.
