Here's an article from about fifteen seconds of internet research.
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2009/aug/12/barack-obama/obama-has-praised-single-payer-plans-past/
Obama is a guy who plays his cards close to his vest and I think what
happened was that once he realized Obamacare would never go over with
single payer, he stopped mentioning it.
Stupak rang a bell. I remember that was a big deal. The trouble with
blue dogs. When you have all the yellow dogs with you and all the
republicans against you, the blue dogs have a lot of power. As for
Stupak resigning, politicians never drop out of politics because they
upset by some matter of principle. They drop out because they want to
spend more time with their families.
Joe Lieberman was a blue dog that Gore put on the ticket as veep to
balance his liberalness. He was a pain in the ass. He got so righty
that someone beat him in the primary, and he ran as an independent, and
then pretended he was a democrat when all his ideas were clearly
republican, and then he backed Cap'n Fogey for prez. Glad to see him
gone.
There was that uproar about Obama making changes to Obamacare without
going to congress (as if anything he ever wanted to do would get through
congress), but I think the supremes backed him up on that. Then there
was that thing about whether or not something was a tax which John
Roberts surprisingly backed Obama on, and lately there is that thing
where catholic hospitals don't want to pay for birth control pills for
their employees which went down because Scalia is dead.
Then that union dues thing recently went our way. The reps have a shot
at putting a moderate on the supreme court if they act quickly but
they'd rather wait and let the big girl put in a flaming liberal.
Yar Trump is for all these other nations that are on our side right now
going nuclear. I guess it never occurs to him that later on they might
be on the other side. And now he is refusing to rule out nuclear
weapons in Europe. I expect that makes our allies there a tad nervous.
Trump wants nukes on ISIS, Lyin' Ted wants carpet bombing and making the
desert glow, Uncle Johnny Ohio, a relative moderate, only wants boots
on the ground. But that is as far as they go on details. The dems
insist that it is complicated and you have to make deals with all these
other players and blah blah blah. That doesn't make the blood run like
mushroom clouds or glowing sands or our boys running across the desert,
but i think it is a far better way to deal with the situation. Because
it is complicated. Another difference between liberals and
conservatives. Liberals think the world is complicated and
conservatives think it is simple.
There were tactical nuclear weapons, which are just smaller nuclear
weapons which I think were the vogue among a certain set during the cold
war. Then there was the neutron bomb which was touted because it
didn't destroy any infrastructure it just killed people. But for some
reason people didn't like that. The dirty bomb is a regular bomb
wrapped in radioactive material which scatters when the bomb goes off.
None has ever been used and anymore it is chiefly used to spread terror
about ISIS. Since terror is their business ISIS can't feel bad about
that.
And I haven't even gotten to all of Trump's latest blabs, and now they
will have a whole weekend to accumulate, how can we ever keep up?
