I don't remember much about Hillarycare. I do remember it going down in
flames. I think the bad rap it got was that it was done in secrecy, as
is the way of the big girl, and then presented it after it was ll
worked out. Well off to the wiki. Oh so much stuff early in the
morning. It looks like it was a mandate, employers had to provide
insurance and there were certain requirements about how the insurance
companies could behave, like they couldn't drop people. And the
Republicans realized that if it went through it would be a feather in
the cap of the dems, and they didn't want that. There might have been a
containing costs element because besides the reps, the drug companies
and the insurance companies didn't like it. Oh that was when the Harry
and Louise commercials came out, I remember them.
My impression is that Obama was in favor of single payer, but saw that,
like gun control, it was a losing issue and dropped it. You can't
always get what you want. I don't see what introducing a bill means
anything. If it's not going to go, why bother?
As for the exercising powers that you Obama haters don't think he has.
Presidents have always done that and it is up to the courts to decide.
That is the American way.
Is Trump in a slump? Most pundits think he will lose in Wisconsin, but
that might be because of its being the unique province of their goofball
guv who the local reps love. More troubling, to me, who wants to see
the downfall of the reps, is that his nationwide polls are dropping.
His chances of taking the whole shebang have gone from probably to
probably not. There seems to be a stumble in his step.
Too early to call anything of course, but if Donald doesn't roll into
Cleveland with all the votes I think there is no way he is going to get
the nomination.
I think he will go third party then because he clearly loves campaigning.
And today is opening day for the Cubs. You know we have never discussed
sports. From time to time I have gotten the impression that you are
not a fan of any team. I have never gone any deeper into it because I
am not a big fan myself, the Cubs of course, and the Bears a bit, and
maybe basketball or hockey if the Bulls or the Blackhawks are in the
playoffs, but I don't want to get into a long discussion of sports
because frankly, there is not that much there. The team wins or loses
and that's the whole story.
Well I've got to get a painting ready for the Monday fb posting so I'll see you later.
