The old Red Green Show featured a long running segment, I think it was called "Ask the Experts", in which they explored those three little words that men find it so hard to say: "I - don't - know". Of course the so called experts didn't know any more about the subjects than the alleged viewers who sent in the questions, but that didn't stop them because, what they didn't know, they could make up. I think it's time we all admit that none of us really knows what Trump is going to do. Trump is the proverbial loose cannon, I don't think he even knows what he is going to do, or try to do.
One thing that I wonder about is how the Trump presidency will affect the firearms business. Sales of guns and ammunition went through the roof when Obama was elected. Logically, then, said sales should plummet now. It's probably too late to dump your Smith and Wesson stocks but, if you're in the market for a slightly used AR, you might want to start watching for good deals in the want ads.
Speaking of stocks, when I was checking the election returns around midnight, they said that, as soon as it began to look like Trump was winning, all the Asian stock markets went down like submarines. The Asian stock markets were trading at the time because it was already tomorrow over there. They also reported that the U.S. stock futures, which apparently trade all night, were down around five percent. By Wednesday noon the futures had regained at least half of their losses, and the regular stock market was running well into positive territory. That's an old joke around Wall Street, "Sell on the rumor, buy on the news." In my own experience, the stock market usually gets the jitters around election day but, before long, it's business as usual, no matter who wins.
That Brexit thing gave the markets fits for awhile too, but they got over it. I heard or read somewhere that some pundits think there's a link between Brexit and Trump, not a conspiracy or anything like that, it's just that both of them are coincidently part of a larger movement, something like the WMC uprising that we recently read about. One can only hope.
As far as what our alleged allies think about Trump, fuck them. They were all ga-ga when Obama was elected, even gave him the Nobel Peace Prize. I guess they figured it was high time that we elected an African American president, as if it was any of their business. Somebody on the internet said at the time that, if they liked Obama so much, he wished they would take him off our hands. Well they can have him now, we're done with him.
