Without a paddle

I will gladly concede the possibility of a river diverging into a pair of rapids, separated by an island, with the lamestream media at the fork, chattering away.  But in a later post there is a leap from paddling a canoe to the theory of relativity, and here I stumble.  Is that creative license in action or is there a link I am missing?  And who is Alfred?  Is he the Topeka version of Albert?  Just asking; no offense intended.

In 1970 I traveled back in time when I returned from Okinawa.  We flew out of Kadena AFB at 11am and landed at Travis AFB in California at 10:30am the same day, after a very long flight.  It was a little disorienting but luckily I kept my wristwatch on Chicago time for the eighteen month overseas tour.  I may not have known which day it was but I knew the correct time.

If the outcome of an election is obvious I often "throw my vote away," but if it's close I don't.  I like to encourage the lesser parties to stay in the game, but I wish they had a "none of the above" option on the ballot, too.  The more parties, the merrier.  With no one party dominating, compromises and coalitions could mean better government, if the elected officials are reasonable people having reasonable discussions.

Here's another good reason not to have a duper-phone on your person at all times: a US Magistrate judge has ruled that lawsuits can be served via Twitter.  I may have asked this before, but is there a law that requires you to answer your phone or doorbell?  I know if there is a warrant involved it doesn't matter if I answer the doorbell or not, but the phone?  I wonder if there is a segment of our modern society that eschews telephones of any kind; even the Amish have phones available near their property for emergency use.

Any thoughts on term limits for elected officials?
