The "Sue the Saudis Bill" is another fine example of the Law of Unintended Consequences. Suppose you sue them, and then what? What court will handle the case and decide the outcome? The fellows in Congress didn't really think this through completely, even if their hearts were in the right place.
So you file your case, and it's put on the docket for April 12, 2019. Hey, those court dockets are crowded and you gotta wait your turn. Suppose you finally win, then what? How do you collect when the Saudis refuse to pay?
No one will benefit from this legislation, except the lawyers who will no doubt earn their handsome fees. Charles Dickens wrote about something like this, where an estate settlement took years, and when it was finally settled there was no money left for anyone. The lawyers took it all.

Learned a new term today, referring to one of our esteemed presidential candidates: Orange Twatwaffle. I like that one, but I'll shorten it to "OT."
There is a glimmer of hope for the Republic as the OT's campaign appears to be imploding in spectacular fashion. It's never a good idea to tell veterans, part of your core constituency, that they suffer PTSD because they are weak. Mighty big talk from someone with only 4F credentials.
And the tax leaks to the NY Times arrived in a timely fashion; loose talk attribute the leak to a former wife. Good for her (if so)!
The most lucid and vitriolic takedowns of the Feculent Fabulist I've seen thus far are by Keith Olbermann, on GQ's YouTube channel. You may laugh with joy as he glares into the camera and tells the OT, "FUCK YOU!" Today's post about dogs and pets is worth a peek, but there are plenty more. Olbermann reminds me of Howard Beale in Network, although I hope he comes to a better end.

There are a few new sites I've found for fellow deep thinkers. One is for Peter Turchin, founder of the new transdisciplinary field of Cliodynamics. He wrote about the cultural history of pants, so you know it's useful info. Another site is for Sam Harris, a neuroscientist guy.
Something different on the menu for food for thought.
